Pork tonkatsu, hot off the pan
Peach, slightly too ripe, that first bite
Spaghetti with turkey ragu, slurped up loudly
A small hunk of dry, crumbly aged cheddar cheese
Red pepper, cut into quarters, filled with smoked salmon cream cheese, bits of lox, and kalamata olives
A truly good gluten-free chocolate chip cupcake with chocolate ganache
Romaine lettuce with strips of salami, grape tomatoes, black olives, chickpeas, and a lot of homemade ranch
Homemade mac and cheese with gruyere and manchego, cold the next day, for breakfast, or eaten while watching Great British Bakeoff
A spoonful of peanut butter, eaten at my desk at 3:30 pm, then raising the spoon to Ted Lasso
Refried black beans, sautéed mushrooms, Monterey Jack cheese, and a plop of guacamole on top, almost too filled to fold into a taco, eaten over the plate, then scraping up the bits that spilled out, making them them into one last bite
A square of dark chocolate, soft, then crumbling into the toffee inside, at 9:30 at night, while sitting on the couch with my husband, every night
What the heck is this list? And why does it matter?
Let me show you.
